Eating Disorder Education and Recovery Resources

At the TLB Community Foundation, we believe that access to eating disorder education, recovery resources, and supportive information should be available to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances or where they are in their journey.

We are working to make these resources more accessible through:

  • Free Educational Videos: Our YouTube channel provides free educational content covering eating disorders, recovery, nutrition, body image, and other topics to help individuals, families, and healthcare professionals better understand and navigate these challenges.

  • Free Educational Handouts: Our website offers downloadable handouts and practical tools designed to provide guidance, increase understanding, and support individuals, caregivers, and professionals.

  • Personalized Resource Assistance: Not sure where to start or struggling to find a specific resource? Through our online resource request form, individuals, families, and providers can reach out to us directly. Whether you're looking for educational materials, healthcare providers, treatment centers, insurance information, or community support, our team will help connect you with available resources.

  • Community Collaboration: When we don't have a resource readily available, we work to find it! This may include developing new educational materials, connecting with local organizations, or reaching out to community partners to identify resources that meet your needs.

Our goal is simple: to make finding reliable information and meaningful support easier, while helping reduce the barriers that often stand in the way of eating disorder education and recovery.

Whether you're seeking support for yourself, a loved one, or someone you work with, we're here to help you take that next step.

Food Support and Resource Access

At the TLB Community Foundation, we believe that everyone deserves access to food, essential resources, and community support without unnecessary barriers. Through hands-on events, donation drives, and community partnerships, we bring people together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Here's how we're creating community impact:

  • Sandwich Socials: We bring community members together to make sandwiches that are donated to local organizations and programs supporting individuals experiencing food insecurity. These events provide an opportunity to give back, connect with others, and make a direct impact.

  • Hygiene Kit Drives: We collect and assemble hygiene kits filled with essential personal care items to help individuals and families access everyday necessities.

  • Food Drives: We organize food drives to collect and distribute food to local organizations working to address food insecurity and increase access to food within our communities.

  • Blood Drives: We partner with community organizations to host blood drives that support local blood supplies and provide opportunities for individuals to give back in a meaningful way.

  • Community Partnerships: We collaborate with local organizations, businesses, and volunteers to identify community needs, organize events, and create opportunities for people to support one another.

Reducing Barriers Through Community Giving

One of our priorities is ensuring that the resources we collect and create reach people who need them without unnecessary restrictions. We donate food, hygiene supplies, and other essential items to community-based programs such as Free Fridge ATX, Dripping Springs Helping Hands, and other local organizations that work to make resources accessible to individuals and families.

We recognize that accessing support can already be challenging, and we strive to partner with organizations that prioritize dignity, inclusivity, and low-barrier access.

Our goal is to do more than collect donations. We want to bring people together, strengthen community connections, and create opportunities for everyone to participate in making support more accessible.

Whether you're volunteering at a Sandwich Social, contributing to a donation drive, or helping us connect with a community partner, every act of support helps build a stronger, more connected community.

Body & Weight Inclusive Health Education

At the TLB Community Foundation, we believe that everyone deserves access to compassionate, inclusive, and evidence-based health education, regardless of body size, weight, background, or health status. We recognize that weight stigma, diet culture, and misinformation can create significant barriers to healthcare and overall well-being.

Through free educational resources, community outreach, and partnerships, we are working to challenge harmful misconceptions, promote body respect, and help individuals and healthcare professionals approach health without judgment or weight-based assumptions.

Here's how we're creating community impact:

  • Free Body & Weight Inclusive Education: Through our YouTube channel, educational handouts, and online resources, we provide accessible information about weight stigma, body image, diet culture, intuitive eating, and weight-inclusive approaches to health. Our goal is to help individuals build a more compassionate and informed understanding of their bodies.

  • Community Education & Presentations: We develop and offer educational presentations, workshops, and community discussions for individuals, families, schools, healthcare professionals, and community organizations. These opportunities help challenge common misconceptions about weight, nutrition, movement, and health while encouraging more inclusive conversations.

  • Reducing Weight Stigma in Healthcare: We work to increase awareness of how weight bias can impact healthcare experiences, access to treatment, and overall well-being. Through educational resources and collaboration with healthcare providers, we encourage respectful communication, patient-centered care, and approaches that consider health beyond the number on a scale.

  • Supporting Body Respect: We provide educational tools and resources to help individuals and families navigate body image concerns, social pressures, and harmful messaging surrounding food, weight, and appearance. This includes supporting parents and caregivers in fostering positive relationships with food, bodies, and movement in children and adolescents.

  • Challenging Diet Culture & Nutrition Misinformation: With so much conflicting information about nutrition and health, it can be difficult to know what to believe. We aim to provide accessible, evidence-based education that helps individuals question harmful diet culture messages and make informed decisions that support their unique needs and well-being.

  • Promoting Inclusive Community Spaces: Through outreach, education, and community partnerships, we strive to create environments where individuals of all body sizes and abilities feel respected, represented, and supported.

Creating a Community Where Every Body Belongs

We believe that health education should empower individuals rather than create shame, fear, or judgment. Our work focuses on helping people understand that health is complex, personal, and influenced by far more than body weight alone.

Our goal is to make body and weight-inclusive education more accessible, reduce stigma, and encourage a community where individuals feel supported in caring for their bodies without pressure to change their size or appearance.

Whether you're an individual seeking resources, a parent supporting your child, or a healthcare professional looking to provide more inclusive care, we hope to offer education and tools that help create meaningful, lasting change.

Community Outreach, Partnerships & Grants

At the TLB Community Foundation, we believe that financial barriers, insurance limitations, and difficulty navigating healthcare resources should not prevent individuals from receiving the nutrition care and support they need. Through fundraising, community partnerships, and resource development, we are working to create more equitable access to care and connect individuals with providers and services that meet their needs.

Here's how we're working to create community impact:

  • Financial Assistance & Scholarships: Through fundraising and community donations, we are working toward establishing a scholarship fund to support TLB Nutrition Therapy clients who face significant financial barriers to continuing care. These scholarships would help individuals who require deeply reduced sliding-scale or equity rates, have experienced insurance denials, lack adequate insurance coverage, or otherwise cannot afford the cost of ongoing nutrition services. Our goal is to help prevent financial circumstances from interrupting access to needed care.

  • Community Fundraising: We plan to organize fundraising events, donation campaigns, and community initiatives to build financial assistance opportunities for individuals who might otherwise be unable to access or continue nutrition care. These efforts will allow community members, businesses, and organizations to contribute directly to improving access to services.

  • Provider & Treatment Center Partnerships: We are connecting with healthcare providers, treatment centers, and community organizations to better understand the services they offer and the financial accessibility of those services. This includes gathering information about accepted insurance plans, Medicare and Medicaid participation, sliding-scale options, reduced-cost services, and other financial assistance programs.

  • Accessible Provider & Treatment Resources: Using the information gathered through our community partnerships, we are developing educational handouts and resource guides to help individuals, families, and referring providers navigate available treatment options. These resources will make it easier to identify providers and programs based on insurance coverage, financial needs, and the level of support someone may be seeking.

  • Reducing Barriers Through Collaboration: We recognize that finding affordable, appropriate care can be overwhelming, especially when navigating insurance denials, limited coverage, or financial hardship. By building relationships with providers and organizations, we hope to make this process easier and help connect individuals with accessible, supportive care.

Building a Community Where Care Is More Accessible

Our goal is to create meaningful connections between individuals, healthcare providers, treatment organizations, and community supporters while reducing the financial and systemic barriers that can prevent people from receiving care.

Whether through scholarships, fundraising, resource sharing, or partnerships, we are committed to creating opportunities for individuals to access the support they need, regardless of their financial circumstances.
