Stefanie Kaiser, MS, RD, LD
(they/she)

Stefanie earned degrees in Nutrition and Foods and Human Nutrition from Texas State University, where their studies primarily focused on nutrigenomics, medical nutrition therapy, behavior change, chronic disease management, and the social and environmental factors that shape our relationships with food.

Stefanie grew up in a part of rural Central Texas where the nearest grocery store was a 45-minute drive away. Their family of origin did not highly value food as community, connection, or love, which led them to develop a deep desire to experience this. Stefanie intentionally developed their relationship with food to prioritize these values, especially into adulthood and their professional career. This only deepened their passion to provide culturally competent nutrition care, where food is valued as much as a tool of connection and heritage preservation as it is a factor of individual health.

In their practice, Stefanie takes a client-centered, food-neutral, and evidence-based approach to care. Their counseling style is gentle, non-judgmental, collaborative, and consent-based, with an emphasis on meeting clients where they are and supporting sustainable, values-aligned change. Stefanie understands that health exists within a broader social context, and that access, autonomy, and safety are essential to well-being—including the knowledge that disability rights are human rights.

Stefanie supports a wide range of individuals navigating eating disorders and disordered eating. Stefanie is particularly passionate about working with neurodivergent and queer clients. Stefanie also enjoys supporting clients who are managing diabetes and other chronic illnesses, as well as clients who are interested in exploring their relationship with food and body in the context of identity, lived experience, and community. As a queer person who grew up in a small town, Stefanie understands both the harm that can come from environments that demand assimilation and the healing that can happen in spaces that practice radical acceptance. They strive to create a space where clients feel safe to show up fully as themselves.

Outside of work, Stefanie enjoys spending time with friends, playing with their two cats, riding their bike, knitting, playing video games, reading, and dancing.

Stefanie is a registered and licensed dietitian in the state of Texas and Florida. They are engaging in both in person sessions at our Central Austin and Dripping Springs offices as well as telehealth sessions.
